Stage 1 Testing
Talent Search involves the testing of students at your school, at Years 9 and 10, in an attempt to unearth their raw sporting potential. Some students in year groups outside of Years 9 and 10 may also be invited to test, provided they have displayed their potential to the PE staff at your school.
The testing programme is a series of seven standard physical education tests that will enable the us to identify students with the characteristics associated with top performance in a variety of Olympic and Commonwealth sports.
Schools have two options in this instance. They can send all results to the Institute for analysis or use the standards provided by the Institute to collate a list of suitable candidates. The second option sees a huge reduction in the amount of administration involved. This option has been developed on the back of the feedback that we have received from schools.

Tests being:
- Height
- Weight
- Arm Span
- Vertical Jump
- Seated Basketball Throw
- 40m sprint
- Shuttle Run / Beep Test (20m)
